hii adam here with inspired led! today i will demonstrate the proper way to install our led flex above a cabinet for accent lighting. accent lights are meant to compliment your room, furniture and appliances. therefore when it comes to choosing a brightness level for the area above your cabinets, our normal bright option is the ideal level to use.
before installing any of our lighting products you always want to measure the space you need and identify your power source. if you find that the strip is too long you can cut it to the correct length but make sure when cutting it that you only cut along the copper ovals on your strip. if you had to cut your led strip to the correct length you may no longer have a
connector. this problem can be easily solved by using one of our tiger paw connectors. for this demonstration i am using our plug-and-play connector. if you want more information on our different connectors and how to install it to your flex you can click the link here. once your flex is the correct length and connectorized. you are ready to install.
although you can place the lights wherever you please, there are two spots we recommend the most. the first spot is on the inside edge of the cabinet facing back. the second spot is on the inside edge on the opposite side with the light facing forward. both positions will add a beautiful accent finish to your cabinets. the location is dependent on
the effect you are going for. if you have anything ornamental placed on top of your cabinets you may want to place the light in the back to help them pop out from the wall. or maybe you want to make a silhouetted effect by placing them in front. the choice is, of course, completely yours. now, the last thing i want to go over is what to do when your cabinets
have dividers. this problem can be quickly solved by simply cutting out a small hole or slot between the dividers for your leds or wires to flow through. now, when you are ready to place your led strips, all you need to do is release the adhesive and firmly press down on your flex. you can then use our cable clamps to hide or keep wires in place.
