luxury living room sofa set
hi, i’m jo alcorn and we’re here at my clients’ new family room. now, this family room was not functioning for my client with a growing family. we had a small three-seater sofa, we had a small tv unit, and a tv on the far wall with a really non-exciting fireplace. so, for a family, there wasn’t a lot of areas where they could really cozy up and hang out together. so now we’ve transformed the space and we gave it a really fun family, functional atmosphere, but there’s something really classic and beautiful about the space at the same time. we brought in an l-shaped sofa, and why i love l-shaped sofas is they really utilize the space, and gives
you so much seating. at the same time, it just anchors a corner of a room. so by doing the weight of the l-shaped sofa that we got from structube — nice and comfy, very deep — we needed the weight over on the fireplace wall and by beefing up the fireplace with new trim and rebuilding a whole frame around it that we got from metrie, we were able to give it a grand scale and a real wow factor now, which was lacking in the space before. now they did have a gas fireplace, and i know most of you are gonna say, ‘well, did you replace the gas fireplace?’ and we did. we took out the gas and we added an electric fireplace from dimplex. and the fun part about this is now
they can have the fireplace on all year round, without cooking themselves up. or, they’re able just to enjoy the ambiance. now, we added the tv above it and the other wonderful thing is we don’t have to worry about the heat from the gas. and we added an arm from wayfair so now they can tilt it and they can view it as well in the kitchen. and, of course, you can’t forget the sound system, and we used a sonos soundbar, so we get to have the sound going all the way around, and really having that theatre experience, but the beautiful part is it just kind of hides and morphs in with the design so it’s not in your face. this is a family space, so i wanted to make sure
that we could really tie in those family photos. and the best place to go for that is posterjack, where we’re able to upload, and even morph the colors if we want, pick our frame, choose the size of the border, and it gets shipped right to us. so we hung those up along the back two walls by the sofa to, again, give proper weight and anchor to this beautiful corner. and by tying it in with some beautiful pieces from homesense in our pillows, we played up kind of the warmer, fun tones of your grays, your whites and your blues. the other thing that really brings a space together is a wall color, and benjamin moore has this beautiful wickham gray color
that has this subtle look, but also has a warmth to it, and it was just the perfect addition to this entire family space. we also wanted to make sure that we had proper lighting in this space. and, we had the popcorn ceiling to work with, and the clients didn’t necessarily want to deal with redoing the whole ceiling. so, pot lights were out. we were able to find track lighting at wayfair, and it gave them ample lighting, which is on a dimmer, so you’re still getting that whole look, but there’s also something architectural about it. and then we teamed that up with a floor lamp from wayfair as well, so that there’s nice balance. the really fun, fun thing
within this space is the rocking chair. it’s a more modern take on the rocking chair, but there’s just something cozy, fun and exciting, and it is a great place for someone to curl up and read on. the real exciting part of a project is seeing how happy and excited your clients are after. this was a space [that] they really didn’t use because they all couldn’t fit, and now they’re all able to cuddle up and enjoy life together.
