our first featured project isan east moline kitchen that isabout to change completely. we wanted to usethis episode of the villagehome show to share with you as much as the remodel processas possible so before we takeyou on a tour of the finished space letsvisit the project the daybefore we began tear out to see where this before andafter story really begins. â™ª the original kitchen was au-shape design at the front ofthe home. a peninsula with an overhangingsoffit and wall cabinetscreated a corridor from the front entry of thehome. wall cabinets above thepeninsula added storage, but also blockedeyesight and crowded the space.

this peninsula will come outalong with the wall the dividesthe kitchen from the diningroom. by opening up this kitchen intothe dining and nearby front living room the functionsand purposes of these spacescan become more versatile. laminate countertops and whiteappliances will be updated to granite and stainless steel.we want the village home showto give you an accurate expectation of whatit's like to remodel a kitchen.that is why were not going to sugarcoat thetimeline. quality work doesn'thappen at a rapid pace. quality workis done with care andconcentration. if someone is offering you acomplete kitchen remodel thatwill be done in a week please

please look into their workbefore agreeing to anything.again these things just don't get completed overnight, buttrust me village home storeshas taken many many years to get the systems inplace that we have and withevery job we begin we're trying to make anychanges possible for the bestend result for everyone. lets travel ahead from ourbefore footage to 3 1/2 weekslater to check in on the progress. a lot hashappened to this space since welast visited. the new kitchen area is alreadystarting to take shape and thatis saying a lot since there are no cabinets inplace yet. so much work hashappened to prepare the room for the newdesign. plumbing has beendisconnected and the original

kitchen was torn out includingthe original flooring andwallpaper. the next phase of the projectafter tear out is to roughenall the new locations for plumbing, ductwork andelectrical. the new hardwood flooring has been delivered tothe home and time was allowedto acclimate. it was then installedthroughout the new kitchen aswell as dining room and adjacent living room. as soonas the floors are down theirprotected right away with a heavy dutymaterial called ram board. thisram board gets installed before anymorework is completed in the space. cabinetry can begin to get setonce the floors have beenprotected, and now

the new kitchen will trulybegin to take shape. the verysame morning we showed up to find the flooring gettingcompleted ended with this muchprogress later that same afternoon. eachof these crews needs their owntime at the job site and to bescheduled in the correctsequence. all of that scheduling is orchestrated by our projectmanagement team for you. youhave all access to all necessary information and theproject schedule. thisinformation is found in hard copy form atthe job site binder that staysat the home and can be also accessed onlineanytime on a desktop computer or your mobile device when yourlogged into our system. yourcrews are

walls were painted and lightingand undercabinet lighting wasinstalled. plumbing was reconnected to thesink and the tile backsplashwent in. the new appliances where thendelivered and a day is allowedfor any follow up carpentry or painting touch up. take onemore look at this kitchenbefore and now lets show you the after. whobetter to show off this new kitchen then the 5 adorablegrandchildren that will get toenjoy it often. a wall that used to block thekitchen from the rest of themain level is now opened up and replaced by a half wall atbar height. now the kitchenpeninsula has 2 heights and the view fromthe corner of the originalkitchen has gone from cramped

and crowded to open andinviting. koch cabinetry in a birch wood species has beenstained a rich brandy finishand with the new open space for the kitchen thelayout is able to spread outand offer more storage and countertop spacethroughout. before thecabinetry was put in beautiful acacia hardwoodflooring was installed. thishardwood now brings the entire new openspace floor plan of the mainlevel of this home into 1 cohesive look. the richnessof the dark stained cabinets is complimented perfectly bythe black pearl polishedgranite tops. there has been no granitebacksplash installed so thatthis greecian white marble tile

can bring a bright contrast tothe walls. of course we cannever mention any gorgeous tilebacksplash without including amention of our l.e.d. diode undercabinet lighting.not only does this diodelighting help showcase your tile investment it is thebest task lighting you can askfor and you will love having it day andnight. in the new kitchenlayout the sink sits beneath the new bar toppeninsula and the whirlpooldishwasher is right next to that. the view intowards the new kitchenincludes an angled end cabinet on the wall.including angled end cabinetslike this on the end of a run cabinets canpolish off the look instead oflooking too boxed off.

considering adding a finishedinterior and glass inserts in cabinets like this if yourwanting a space for displayingitems. a base lazy susan turns the cornerinto the new cooking zone inthe kitchen. great pots and pans storagesurrounds a brand new whirlpoolrange and microwave hood. the new range has 5 elements ontop and 6.4 cubic feet of capacity in theoven. one of the 5 cooktop elements mentioned is a flexheat triple radiant element. one of these is like having 3elements in 1. it includes a 6inch a 9 inch and a 12 inch ring allin 1 convenient location in thecooking

surface. save time when youonly need to bake with 1 rack.the rapid preheat feature on this unituses all the elements and rearconvection fan to heat the oven quickly. thisnew microwave hood fromwhirlpool includes an innovative cleanrinse non-stick interior and2.0 cubic feet of space. microwave hoodscan be installed to vent out of your kitchen or recirculateair back into the space. thewall cabinet to the left of this new rangehas been fit with a wall spiceorganizer. opposite from the new kitchensink is a wall filled withcabinetry. in the original kitchen thiswall was empty. now it includesa beautiful new hutch

area and nearly 13 feet ofcountertop surface. 2 large base cabinets have beenfit with full depth shelves. 2sliding shelves have been included inthe narrow cabinet before thecorner. above this storage is a stunning new hutcharea including prairie mulliondoors. wine racks complete the lookand help set this area apartfrom the rest of the kitchen as a beautiful new sectionvisible from many areas of themain floor. be sure to discuss with yourdesigner about adding our diodel.e.d. lighting in areas other then underneath yourcabinets. in this case theglass door cabinet isilluminated perfectly. turning the corneryou will find the newrefrigerator

and pantry area as well as alanding space by the garageentrance. when you include a tall pantrycabinet near your refrigeratoryou're already half way to a built in looksurrounding the fridge. thisdesign includes a pantry on the left and a woodpanel on the right and bridgesa space between with a wide and deep cabinetabove. keeping all of your talland deep units together helps allowthe rest of your kitchen designto seem more spacious and open. the new kitchen isfinished off with crown moldingand light rail. now that the kitchen is open tothe two nearby rooms on themain level this home has been given awhole new look. these 2 nearbyrooms

of 1 part of the revolutionarynew kitchen from kitchenaid. â™ª â™ª â™ª â™ª welcome to this home in davenport iowa where we'vealready began transforming thisspace. the crews have just wrapped uptheir first week of work here.the original kitchen cabinetry has been removed and installedas a kitchenette area in thebasement. the original kitchen includedoak cabinetry and solid surfacecountertops and had been installed yearsback. open shelving above thecabinets offered a unique customizedarea for display. threedifferent types

of flooring were installedthroughout. carpeting in thefront living room and 2 different hardwoods. one inthe kitchen and another in theadjacent dining room. demo has been completed and theelectricians are actually heretoday roughing in their work. it's hard to believe just a fewdays ago there was a wall wherei'm standing right now. this wall divided the originalkitchen from the formal diningroom. the dining room window wasreplaced and moved up toaccommodate for the new location of thekitchen sink. now this openspace is all ready for a brand new kitchenlayout including an island thatwill span down the center ofthis room. with this space opened upplumbing and electrical crewsare able to

roughen locations based on thenew kitchen layout before thedrywall and plaster crew arrives next week. hardwoodflooring will be delivered andbrought into the home as work continues. the boxes ofmaterial will be opened up sothat it can acclimate to the humidity ofthis home before it'sinstalled. here are a few color renderings of whatthe new kitchen will look likeonce the project is complete. when we return from a shortbreak you will be so surprisedto see just how much this space has transformedafter a few weeks of work. â™ª â™ª quality, it's the result of shared values. the joy found inan honest days work.

we allowed a full week for thekitchen install and the base,crown and trim installation will happen later in theprocess. the painting crewsthen had half a week to prime and paint the space andcambria quartz was templated sothat the custom fabrication of those tops couldbegin. today we're checking in on the job as the cambria getsdelivered and installed inplace. all seam work is done on siteand the tops are siliconed intoplace. once installed these cambriaquartz tops are completelymaintenance free. the final stages of thisprocess will be to reconnectthe plumbing to the new sink and faucet, install and groutthe tile backsplash andcomplete the trimwork

scheduled months of work from 8different crews and it wasmanaged all from start to finish by village home stores. notonly have we removed thedividing wall but we've also filled in anexisting open pass throughwindow. now the space has beencustomized to fit the newkitchen layout. the original kitchen had a layout thathugged the center dividing wallbetween the original dining space and the kitchen. now thekitchen can spread its wingsinto an entirely new open space.cabinetry from our druasupremecabinet line is in the raised panel doornamed kendall. rich cherry woodis stained in a finish namedclove. cambria quartzcountertops in the

fairborne design has beenpaired with a honed travertinetile backsplash. the travertine and quartz isilluminated by our low profilel.e.d. undercabinet lighting system.with the window moved up fromit's original location, the new kitchen sinkcan now sit below it and storage and counter space can extenddown the wall into where theoriginal kitchen was. a pull-out towel cabinet islocated to the left of the sinkbase and next to the dishwasher a recyclingcenter cabinet has beeninstalled. above the sink is a valance area thatincludes a straight valance andbox columns on each end. a beautiful way to bridgethis space surrounding thewindow.

the new location for therefrigerator keeps all of thetaller items together and creates a built-in looksurrounding the refrigerator. a3 foot wide pantry cabinet is fit withslide-out shelves for easyaccess to this great storage space. capping off thissection of cabinetry is an openbookshelf cabinet installed to face theentrance from the back end ofthe home. with wall cabinets and crownmolding now stretching all theway to the ceiling there's no longer a space to display itemsabove them. now this open shelfcabinet gives a furniture look similarto a built-in area you mightsee in a great room. plenty of display space whenneeded. the same boxed columnlook

from above the sink is repeatedin the hood area above therange. what was once a sideboard wallfor the dining room is now themain cooking center of the new kitchendesign. there is now plenty ofsurface on each side of the range forfood prep in addition to thenew large island countertop surface within reach. the newdesign is now large enough toaccommodate an island over 8 foot inlength. the island has beenordered in the same cabinet style and construction, butwith a painted black finishapplied. a wide stack of drawers in thecenter and 2 base cabinets oneach end both fit with 2 slide-outshelves within. on the back ofthe island custom

wainscot panels have beenordered to fit the cabinets andcomplete the look. the breman series of cabinethardware has been ordered in 2finishes and a variety of sizes to fit the needs ofthe design. a dark bronzefinish for the cherry cabinets and aweathered pewter for thepainted black cabinets. this kitchen has completelytransformed in a matter of 2months. we thank these davenport iowacustomers for their businessand for allowing us to show you an inside look at theentire process from start tofinish. â™ª â™ª â™ª i've only got a coupleminutes ok. literally
