kitchen renovation ideas perth
you're listening to business radio talkers.fm. my name is wayne bucklar. so we're joined today by karen and kelly of vinsan salvage. tell us what it is that you have salvaged? we saw all recycled building materials from demolition projects and renovations, anything from recycled timber, bricks, doors, whole kitchens,
kitchen cupboards, bathrooms products and accessories, any sort of product that you can find from the demolished house. we also have a few unique products and stock. we've had things come in such as chandeliers and we've had vintage tea trolleys and little bits and pieces that collectors find really interesting to come in and find because we not only
take products from building projects but we also take them from the public to save them from tipping fees and things like that. so yes, you can find a whole range of things and not just what you would expect to the salvage yard. now, one of the things that i kind of expect to see of the salvage yard is a lot of secondhand building materials. what are
the sorts of building materials that you have in stock? we have a lot of the old recycled bricks. there are people often after those. we have recycled timber in all sizes which are already denowned and ready for your use, wooden windows and aluminum windows. we also have a huge range of doors and that's probably one of the biggest things that
drags people in here because there was something that constantly needs replacing and we've got a lot of different types and ones that have like the glass, stained glass windows or just have a lot of windows that come apart of that as well. now i guess that because it's salvage, there's no guarantee that it's
going to be there next week or the week after? so if you see it, you need to grab it. that's right. but we often have multiple items of the same sort just depends on your sizes and that sort of thing that you're after. but we have a lot of stock always coming in. but in saying that, if you do see it, it does suit your needs, you're probably
best to grab it. and if you don't have the transportation to take it there, we do delivery and if you put a deposit down, we can organize transportation later on in the week. ah that's handy. now, i want to touch on two things that are maybe a little bit out of the way i think of building salvage. i understand your handle quite a
bit of office gear. yes. that's right. we've got anything from timber, filing cabinet to under this cupboard, to chairs, desks and any sort of office furniture as well. and we've got quite a lot of the filing cabinets at the moment, so i think it would be a great bargain for schools because we're selling them in bulk packages or offices that are
upgrading to new equipment. now what about the heavy end of construction, do you handle the second-hand steel beams and that sort of thing? we do. we have different size beams like ... beams, and channels and lentils as well. so who would you think of as the perfect customer for vinsan? if there's someone out there
listening today and they thought sort of person that you can offer a good service to, how do you characterize them? we have all sorts of customers come in. it could be just a public looking for a small item or material for a little project, or could be builders, or businesses or different companies looking for all sorts of materials
for ongoing projects. we've also had schools come in that i've grabbed a lot of timber for their woodworking classes and even individual students come in to work on their art projects at universities. it sounds like something for everyone and i have to admit, i'm the sort of person who would be there every saturday morning just snuffling around to see
what i could find to put in my shed. right. people come in and they laugh them. they're just having a good look around, what they'll find when they come in. and the great thing about our setup is that everything is quite easily accessible and displayed so you can walk around and just have a browse without
the need of asking for help but we obviously have staff willing to assist if anyone needs it. now going back a few years, every well-built house had a floor of either jarrah or carrie. both of which are expensive and rare these days. do you get those sorts of timbers come true as well?
yes. we get a lot of floorboards coming in, all different sizes and we met to sell those individually for our small repairs or impacts for someone doing a new floor. most of our floorboards that do come in are mainly jarraj so it is usually the more quality woods that are coming through. you'll have renovators and
builders of distressed floors from all over australia coming hunting for you in air because it's difficult to get elsewhere in australia. that's right, but the demolition of houses, the older style is going on all the time so we've got to have these products coming in regularly. so karen and kelly, how do people get in touch with you if we've
interested today, where is the yard first of all? where is the business and how can they get in touch with you? so we're located at 25 katanning street in bayswater and customers can either come in during our opening hours which is 8:30 to 5:00 on weekdays and 8:30 until 3:00 on saturdays or they can give us a call on
9279 3880 and we'll be able to answer any inquiries they have before they come in. and for those people who want to make inquiry on the website, its www.vinsan.com.au karen and kelly, thank you for making yourselves available today. that's fine. thank you for having us. thank you. if you've missed my
